Wow! That’s the feeling Karen and I had after our installation service here at Grace on Sunday, Feb. 18. We were overwhelmed by the love and work that went into creating such a special event. Everything from the music, to the local area pastors turning out, to the special message shared by Rev. Eloy Gonzalez, to the food and decorations in the gym. It was all so honoring and generous. The best part was getting to meet so many loving people. WE truly felt LOVED!
The LOVE we experienced comes from God. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7
Love is the primary calling from God to any gathering of believers, and I have already seen this love being put into action in many God pleasing ways. I have had the chance to see how the body of Grace Lutheran is living this out through the work of the elders. It is a beautiful thing.
Our Board of Directors is seeking to implement the Biblical directive to love in the way they lead. The Staff and so many volunteers have exhibited a tremendous spirit of love in their serving and doing. Jesus, when asked what was most important command to follow, boiled it all down to a few simple things: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39
These words are simple, but not easy. They take a lifetime to integrate.
Ultimately we will fully experience the reality of perfect love only in heaven. Until then – I look forward to learning how we can continue to love one another and the community to which we are called.
PEACE- POWER- JOY!
