I make that statement: God is Leading, because I believe it with all my heart. God has allowed me the honor to serve as your pastor for about a year now. During these twelve months I have learned a great deal from you – his people – about the history and heart of this family of faith. I am more and more convinced that it is not by accident or human design that I am allowed to serve in this position but by His Almighty hand. During the course of the next few months we are preparing for a fresh look at what God is seeking to accomplish through us together. The Board of Directors (along with some staff) will be reviewing previous directives from Almighty God, seeking His Holy Spirit driven leadership for our next season of life together.
The above-mentioned group will be meeting on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 seeking to clarify things like Mission, Vision, and Values which will drive the ministry. Then we will be presenting this “Liquid Jello” to the congregation on Ash Wednesday prior to our worship setting. By “liquid Jello” I mean that the BOD and Staff will present the things which seem right to that group; but still need greater shape and form. Much like Jello needs a container to take shape we are asking all members of Grace to help shape the future. Perhaps we will need to insert some fruit cocktail into the mix of what the team comes up with. On Ash Wednesday, we will start the process of listening to the whole counsel of God’s people. Please plan to come and hear from the team and be prepared to offer feedback. We will be listening to the body of Christ for a few week period. Then on March 23rd, the team will assemble once again to make the agreed upon plans operational. This is where the process will get real traction.
I believe the first quarter of 2019 will help define direction for the coming years. I pray you will be a part of this exciting journey that Jesus is leading us on! Please plan to join me at the following:
March 6 – Ash Wednesday:
5:00 – 5:30 Dinner
5:30 – 6:20 Strategic Planning Team and Feedback
6:30 – 7:30 Worship in the Sanctuary.
