Music and Worship Arts

“Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world. It controls our thought, minds, hearts, and spirits.”
Martin Luther

Sanctuary Choir
The adult choir enjoys a wide repertoire of sacred music. They lead worship at the 8:30 am "Traditional Worship" service most Sundays, September – May. During Advent, the choir performs a larger work, accompanied by a variety of instruments. The choir recently sang with Dove Award-winning artist Michael Card, performing “The Promise.” Currently, the choir has 12–15 excellent singers and a professional accompanist. Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome.

Praise Team
Our Praise Team is comprised of a talented group of singers and musicians. They lead worship at the 11:00 am "Contemporary Worship" service each Sunday. Interested musicians should speak with the Director of Music about joining.

Joy Bells
The adult Handbell Choir meets during the week to make a joyful noise and to enjoy each other's fellowship. They perform music of an advanced level of difficulty and style at both worship services, using four octaves of Malmark bells and three octaves of Malmark handchimes. They perform approximately once a month, and during special days of the year like Reformation and Easter. While the choir’s membership is currently full, adults of age 12 and up are welcome to serve as substitutes.

Ring4Grace
The Handbell Quartet is a select group of ringers who play several times throughout the year, including Ash Wednesday and Christmas Eve services. The quartet is a treat to watch and hear, as the music requires an intricate amount of coordination between players.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 5:45–6:30pm.

Brass Ensemble & Instrumentalists
The Brass Ensemble currently has two trumpets and two trombones. They perform in worship on a seasonal basis, including the Advent Cantata and Easter. New players are welcome to join. Other instrumentalists are also welcome to add their talents to worship, at either service.
Director: Elizabeth Hilsabeck
Rehearsals: Mondays, 7:30–8:30pm or as needed.

Drama
The Drama Ministry is a new addition to the Worship Arts team this year. Using original scripts and Biblical re–enactments, the team adds enrichment and meaning to worship. Interested thespians and techies are welcome to join. The team is also involved in Grace’s yearly production, “The Way of the Cross,” which occurs on March 27 (traditionally, the Saturday before Palm Sunday). This moving piece is a non–traditional theatrical experience that will enrich your Lenten walk.
Director: Joyce Pinnow
Rehearsals: as needed

GLEE music classes
Our Preschool offers early childhood music for children ages 18 months to preK. Classes are offered during the week, and each curriculum is taught for approximately two months. Children have a wonderful time singing, playing with instruments, BoomWhackers & scarves, and moving to the beat! The children sing in worship several times a year, and also perform a Christmas program and an end–of–year celebration.
